This video started off as an attempt at comedy: silly sound effects accompanying Robert Frost's "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening". Thirty years ago Frost's poem was probably encountered by every student in Canada and the United States at one time or another, though perhaps nowadays the fact that it contains the word "queer", in the sense of "odd" or "strange", makes it the target of classroom wits.

In any case, wolf calls, barking dogs, the sound of waves lapping against the shore of a supposedly frozen lake, none of them could completely undermine the beauty of the poem. It demanded to be taken seriously, so here's my attempt at doing just that.

  • is that sean levy?

  • @CowSaysQuackMoo I don't know who Sean Levy is but the poem is by Robert Frost, the music is a GarageBand loop called "Memorial" and that's me (Dugalwest) reciting the poem.

  • Hi Dugalwest,

This is really gorgeous. I am teaching Frost tomorrow in my freshman English class, and I'll definitely screen your video. Could you tell me what music you have playing in the background?

    Thanks

  • Thank you, it would be an honour to be part of your introduction to Frost. The music is a loop from Apple's GarageBand called "Memorial."

  • Liked it a lot.. I did one on sight.. it was too cold...

  • Thank you. Liked yours, too.

  • @XxGaming4LifexX hahahahahaa

  • MY NAME IS ROBERT

  • come on, no! this is no "every thing's well, that ends well"-story! this poem is so full of comlicated longings that cant be transmitted by a soothing, shallow recitation accompanied by some random romantic wind-ensemble!

  • its gorgeous,...fine work of art...harmonious blend of great music, reciting vocals, visuals and ofcourse the poetry itself.

  • Lovely reading and video - one of the better voices! Happy winters to you!
