TSM: What kind of challenges have you come across from doing the Bachata music?

Royce: Challenges. Well, I was never really to ... I didn't start with Bachata, so Bachata was a little different for me to get into but I think one challenge was just instruments. Because Bachata is not like Pop or R&B where you get the beat and write to it, and then you record. Bachata ... there would be songs that I would write without a beat and then you get together with the pianist and then put ... you know, set the music one instrument at a time. I think that was a cool challenge, a cool experience for me.

TSM: What are some of the things that you do to prepare yourself before a concert?

Royce: Prepare myself before a concert. Just be myself and act goofy. I think when I act goofy it makes me a little relaxed, like I can just go up there. Oh, 20 thousand people out there ... that's nothing! Let's go out there and do what I got to do and that's it ... and have fun with it. I think that's the main goal, that's what's keeping me motivated to do this, just having fun with it. That's what keeps me motivated.

TSM: What does Planet Royce mean to you?

Royce: Planet Royce! Planet Royce ... it's complicated. Planet Royce is a lifestyle. It's a way of living. It's another world. It's a place where you can do whatever you want to do. It's a place where you don't get judged. It's a place where ... like the outfits that I wear, we describe that as Planet Royce.

TSM: Like your glasses.

Royce: Yeah, it's ... some people don't understand it.

TSM: That's why we are asking, to try to find out what Planet Royce means.

Royce: Like, I wear purple jeans sometimes. People are like, oh this kid is crazy. It's a different, I think that a lot of kids nowadays, a lot of young folks, not that I'm saying like I'm old. I think that today's youth is like, it's like people get closed into a box. Like, because you see people like ... oh, X is popular or Y and Z. Like they see things and they feel they have to like join that crowd. Or they feel they have to do that because that's what's in or that's what's popular. And Planet Royce is about, it doesn't matter what's in and what's not. I want to wear 3D glasses ... I wear 3D glasses in the street and that's it. I think it's about you feel comfortable doing whatever you want to do.

TSM: Being yourself.

Royce: Being yourself ... that's it ... that's Planet Royce.

TSM: That's a good thing. Who is your childhood mentor?

Royce: My mentor. I think my mom.

TSM: Your mom, why?

Royce: She would always, just ... you know try to guide me through the right path .Well my mom and my dad. Both of them I have grown up in kind of like a strict family where ...

TSM: Your mom was really the strict one?

Royce: No, my father was mostly the strict one. My mom was always the softer one. They would work together. They would always try to get me to stay off the streets and stay away from the negative stuff so that way I can you know get a job and do what I got to do. Stay away from drugs and stuff like that. So I think that my mom helped me out a lot with music also because she was the one that would ... when I didn't have money for studio, stuff like that, she would be the one to help me out on that.

TSM: And what was your first concert like?

Royce: My first concert was in, well like stage in front of an audience, was in the 4th grade. I was in the school choir and we sang like ...

TSM: Were you the lead one?

Royce: No, I was just a kid in the back.

TSM: They didn't know what you were going to become.

Royce: It's difficult getting up there. I mean you get use to it but it's very difficult getting up in front of people and singing or acting or doing anything because you feel like all eyes on you and people are judging you. And I think that's the most difficult part of getting on stage. You know you feel like ... you feel like you did something wrong but no one is going to notice anyways but, I think that's the most difficult part. And once you get over that you'll be able to overcome stage fright.

TSM: Are you the type to have routines? Like on a daily basis, like any type of routines or you wake up in the morning and you must do something specific or ...

Royce: Well I listen to my iPod everyday.

TSM: What's your favorite type of music ... well besides Bachata of course?

Royce: Everything ... Pop, Rock, Techno ... I listen to all types of stuff. I like also listening to music from other countries. When I was in school and I would, let's say, I'd have an Arabic friend I would ask him ... "Yo, bring me a CD!" and stuff like that. I listen to a lot of kooky stuff.

  • LOL THAT GESTURE AT 0:10 SO FUCKING GAY! IM NOT SAYING THE GUY IS HOMOSEXUAL AND LIKES MEN! I HOPE NOT IT WILL BE A DISGRACE TO US DOMINICANS! BUT DAMN ITS KIND OF HARD NOT TO MISTAKE HIM FOR A FAG..

MAYBE ITS THE LACK OF TESTOSTORONE OR IS IT JUST ME?

  • He`s STRAIGHT. Because having a girlfriend while having a professional career is not easy to have your privacy with them as normally, to go out with them somewhere or do stuff behind cameras following you... not only because of the paparazzi or anything like it.

But as Royce and many artist they keep their partner hidden so they wont get affected or dragged to gossip. I am a guy of 16 years, it seems him and me have same life experiences, as well i write music, and listen from other countries.

  • His dimples -3 !

  • Some songs are nice. But he has no musical talent. Just good looks, swag, and a decent voice.

  • @lexo0flexo0 hes not gayyy!! your a negative person and that's why were never gonna have a peaceful world!!!!!
