Bravo Jack, 5 stars and I daresay that this will be remembered as one of your best commentaries. My dad was an English professor at James Madison University in Va who taught the literature of the South. He was doing his post-doc work on Andrew Lytle and had done a lot of work on the 12 Southerners. Lytle visited us for a couple weeks when I was a wee lad and your commentary brought back some memories. Thank you.

Can we stop calling Ronald Reagan a conservative? How is a man who had the federal government expand greatly under him, and didn't cut one agency, program, or department become the poster boy of conservatism? Reagan was a hack, he had conservative rhetoric and that's about it; another Statist tool.

Wrong answer when it comes to Walmart. Should Walmart be a natural monopoly, then its power over the marketplace would only be short-lived. Besides Walmart benefits from tax-breaks and/or subsidies.
