Some years back, Yakima publisher, poet, translator and educator Jim Bodeen planted a cedar post in his front yard that he dubbed "Poetry Pole". It has been collecting poems, often from anonymous writers, frequently striking of content and quality, ever since. As a result, an anthology of the poems collected was compiled under Jim's Blue Begonia imprint, and all lovers of poetry should want to read it.
An accomplished poet himself, Jim Bodeen is an example of the kind of man people should admire instead of a considerable number of the ones they do admire. Jim Bodeen is one of the best ten new friends I made in 2007. If I could still look forward to growing up, I'd want to be just like him, except in one small way.
