Well no it isn't.... and Al Murray's stage persona as the Pub Landlord is based purely on narrow minded humour, he does not believe these things, but does constantly have a go at anything french (as most Brits do).
Have a look at his serious stuff, he's a totally different guy. But then comedy only has 1% true and the rest of it is bs etc. In this case, that area of Canada they like to keep to their French heritage.
