If Kevin Cowie had any bigger cojones he would have left them behind. I have never seen a closer pass.

  • @donliddard You have got some great shots. Think Steve Cohen made Super 2.

  • Paddy, just posted some photos of you on flickr fying the prototype hiway scopion at beachy head also the cover of wings magazine with kevin cowie on the super-2 .

who made the super-2 was it Ultra Light Flight Systems ie steve cohen ??

  • @donliddard It was a prototype Ean Grayland designed EMU. The prototype was the best handling glider I had ever flown. Unfortunately the production version was nowhere near as good.

  • paddy what glider was kevin flying ?? looks something like a miles wing / wasp gryphon sort of design, have you had a look at the stanwell park web page [sidney aus] rod stevens has posted some some photos of kevin cowie flying a cohen sk1 , also some of steve cohen flying a cohen sl 190.

will post a link on my flickr site

  • @donliddard Kevin And I ( Paddy ) came over ( separately) in 76. He had the Super 2 and I bought along a sail I designed myself Called it Elfron : made up a frame for it at Hiway and that started them on the track towards the Scorpion. It outflew everything for a while . I remember getting very frustrated when the first scorpion prototypes flew higher and Steve Hunt reminded me it was tiny ( 126 sq feet ). Fun Days.

  • at 1:06 position really looks like paddy munroe flying. kevin cowie and paddy munroe came over to england in mid 1977 brought a couple of gliders with them, think one was a steve cohen SK1 and the other a super 2 ???? some photos of them flying at beachy head england on my flickr website - similar flying style as in your video, kevin also made the front cover of the BHGA wing magazine august 1978 with a great in flight past 90 degree wingover on his super 2,

    great video thanks for posting
