for double reed instruments and the flute and piccolo, there is really only two ways to do vibrato, and those two are throat and diaphram vibrato. Throat is hard to explain but its manipulating the air while its in the throat. Diaphram is when you tighten your stomach slightly and release it, and it bends the tone to make a vibrato. I prefer throat myself lol

Vibrato is difficult to describe. It appears to me that I mostly make my vibrato in the area of the throat. Here are some excellent studies on throat area vibrato: J. C. Kahane, et al., Videofluoroscopic and Laryngoscopic Evaluation of the Upper Airway and Larynx of Professional Bassoon Players. Journal of Voice 20, no. 2 (2006): 297-307. Weait, Christopher and Shea, J. Vibrato: An Audio-Video-Fluorographic Investigation of a Bassoonist. Applied Radiology (January/February 1977).
