Director of Skidmore's First-Year Experience Beau Breslin briefly discusses the living-learning environment of the FYE, where Scribner Seminar classmates live in close proximity to each other in the dorms. Taped in October 2008.

BACKGROUND: No year in your college career is more challenging or more important than your first one. National studies indicate that students who dont connect with faculty and peers and who dont identify an intellectual interest or passion are less likely to succeed and find fulfillment. Thats a major reason Skidmore developed its First-Year Experience—50 seminars from which to choose, faculty and peer mentors, living in close proximity to Seminar mates. Its all meant to ensure that first-year students hit the ground running from day one, connected and involved.
