Ah, it's Mr. tall, dark and bishonen...Yuri Lowenthal! Uh...I meant Alucard, right. You know I did. You can't prove anything. I don't even know you! Where did you get this number? How did you reach this video? Stop!

Uh...hey, look! Is that a dhampyr assaulting a small child?

Alucard is...complicated, to say the least. If this is the first you're seeing of him since Castlevania III, you may have some catching-up to do with how he's evolved over time. When he first appeared, he looked just like his old man did, except smaller...as in player-character size...and for that matter, Dracula looked like Bela Lugosi's portrayal of the Count, so this is definitely a departure from what you may remember.

Of course, most people are more familiar with his now-iconic appearance as he was redesigned to look for Symphony of the Night, to which this is a much closer likeness. Plus, y'know, I've heard some people complain that Symphony of the Night shows that Alucard's hair is decidedly NOT silver as seen here, it's supposed to be platinum blond. (I dropped the trailing e, because while he might look effeminate, basic French teaches us to reserve "blonde" for female hair and leave the males with "blond"...or just use whichever one you like, that's how the modern and ever-evolving English seems to work, at any rate.) Now, I don't know about the accusations of this being a change...because to my eyes I kinda always figured he was a white-haired pretty boy since I played Symphony, so this particular depiction is a-okay by me.

In this game, Alucard is definitely one of "those three" that I need to keep a careful watch over, because I don't trust Alucard, Shanoa, and Aeon not to be completely overwhelming in all aspects of the game...he's capable at all ranges and tends to come at you faster than you'd like, so settle in and get comfortable waiting for your opportunities instead of jumping on the initiative. This is particularly true of the AI-controlled players, because they're almost entirely built on initiative...which can be somewhat exhausting, in case you hadn't picked up on this after all this time.

Unlike most of the other characters whose object actions consume a stage fixture, Alucard's seems to "register" as having succeeded much quicker than say Maria or the Golem...so if you get interrupted, you'll have a much better chance of retaining the boost. Again, not to harp too much on the AI's tendency to strike first and ask questions later, but you may have noticed that item actions usually don't succeed...to the point that I almost have to stop trying to use them for fear of giving my opponents a free attack each time I do.

Duh, Alucard...her powers aren't as you remembered them, because you only first met her when she was already an adult. Immortals and time travel seems to cause some weird inability to get a proper handle on the ins and outs of causality. Sheesh.

  • Alucard is tall and bishonen but not dark.

  • @DanceofGold How not? He's pale, tall, pretty, aloof, and composed...with a slight touch of brooding and a troubled past, and yet not even this will show through to break his calm and downright unnatural serenity. Plus, for bonus points, he wears a lot of black and his powers are fueled by his dark heritage...although those last two parts are no more significant than, say his hair color. Also, being a good guy doesn't make him stop being "dark," since he's a poster child for "Dark Is Not Evil"

  • LOL is it me or is it it everytime Alucard gets hit its like he's about to give birth?

  • alucard here looks like sephiroth..

  • "Maria...

At least I may take solace you do not yet know me..."

I swear, as soon as I saw the game's artwork (even before playing) I knew he was going to say exactly that upon meeting her :)

  • @YuuGiJoou wow, nice explanation :) Yeah i i guess you're right.

  • @YuuGiJoou Fucking Jesus, this guys everwhere, now hes in BEN 10 BAHAHAHAHAHA! Fucking crazy shit...

  • @Devilcest And I was talking about Castlevania's Alucard as well...where's the problem?

Castlevania's Alucard = Yuri Lowenthal = Sasuke Uchiha

Hellsing's Alucard = Crispin Freeman = Itachi Uchiha

Of course, the community of professional voice actors is a fairly close-knit one, so Hellsing's Alucard definitely knows about Castlevania's Alucard and knows him on at least a professional level beyond only a pair of intersecting roles.
