Clocked Out put five Sichuan musicians from Chengdu in China with five exploratory improvising musicians from Australia. After tours in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, we finally made it to the original place of inspiration - Chengdu. The Chengdu and national TV news took a lot of notice, as seen in coverage gathered here. The musical calls of street vendors, traditional Qin Yin-style singing, Chuānjù opera, new settings (by Erik Griswold) of Dù Fù's poems, free improv, bluesy riffs, delicate èrhú and fiery dízi solos, percussion extravaganzas - it all adds up to an incredible inter-cultural experience.
