"I get the best feeling in the world when you say hi or even smile at me because I know, even if its just for a second, that I've crossed your mind. "

Chapter 28: You Got Me
Emilys POV: "Bye, Bella! Bye, Sky!" I called from the front porch, waving as my friend drove away with the baby.
It had been just a few days since Nick and I had gone to dinner, and we'd been closer than ever, practically inseparable. The fourth of July was in just two days, and the Jonas family would be coming down for the weekend, so B's parents would come over for a little Independence Day celebration.
As soon as Skys car disappeared down the street, I made my way up to my bedroom to get dressed. Nick and I had plans to go shopping for party supplies and things, and then we would come back and probably watch a movie or something. I hastily threw on an old pair of jean shorts, a flowy white tank, and some sandals. I pinned my bangs to the side and applied only blush and mascara. Lastly, I grabbed my keys, my iPhone, and my wallet, and then made my way downstairs to wait for Nick.
"Knock, knock!" I heard someone say about fifteen minutes later, after I'd enjoyed a quick bowl of organic granola for breakfast.
"In here!" I called to Nick.
He walked in wearing simple black basketball shorts and a white V-neck. On his feet was his green Converse, the ones with the black-and-white checkerboard laces. He hopped up and sat on the counter next to the sink where I was washing my cereal bowl. The superstar grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl next to me and quickly kissed my cheek.
"Morning, Em," he said before biting a huge chunk out of the juicy green apple.
"Morning, Nick," I grinned, drying my hands on the dishtowel. "Ready to go shopping?"
"Oh, yeah," he rolled his eyes. "Cant wait."
"You don't have to come, you know," I teased as I headed for the door.
Nick quickly jumped off the counter and slung his arm around my shoulder. "Psh. And leave you to fend for yourself? What kind of best friend would I be then?"
"The kind B is," I joked, pointing to the Jonas house, where my friend was sitting on the front porch steps with Joe, sharing a Pop-tart. The couple waved at us, and we quickly waved back. "Besides, I wouldn't have been alone."
"What are you talking about?"

Nicks POV: I'd been looking forward to going shopping with Emily all morning, but it caught me by surprise when she said that she said that she wouldn't have been alone.
"What are you talking about?" I asked quickly.
"Well, Nick, you are going to meet my other boy BFF," Emily announced excitedly.
"You have another boy BFF?"
Yes, silly, she laughed, her eyes twinkling as she pulled onto the street. "He was the first person to ever talk to me when I moved to Linnings. He's the single most amazing guy on the face of the earth!"
I'm not going to lie. I felt my heart sink at those words. A part of me wished that she would talk about me like that. Who was this guy? What was it about him that made him so much better than me? But then again, I was actually getting to meet one of Emily's friends.
"So whats his name?" I finally asked.
* * *
Emily's POV: "His name is Parker," I said, and I could feel my smile growing wider.
Parker Austin Clearwater. Before Brooklyn moved down to Linnings, Parker had been the person that I spent all of my time with. He was a grade ahead of me in school, and the closest thing to a big brother that I'd ever had. His dad had died when he was twelve, and with an alcoholic mother, he'd had to step up and become the parent figure to his little sister, who was only two when their dad died.
Parker was a very mature person, and was now on a full baseball scholarship at the University of Miami. He'd just come home the day before, and he wanted to see me, and I definitely wanted to see him. Did I mention that he was the most popular guy at school, as well as the best looking? Well, he was.
As we got closer to the Target where we were meeting him, I could feel my excitement building. I hadn't seen him since Christmas break, although we'd talked almost every day. But in the past month, Id been so busy with Nick, and he'd been so busy with the Hurricanes, we hadn't talked as much as usual. After five years of being completely inseparable, it had been hard.
But when I pulled into the parking lot and saw his big yellow Dodge Ram that we loved to call Bumblebee, I felt like I would explode from happiness. I hastily parked my Jeep next to his truck, and then swung the door open.
"Parker!" I cried.
