I've heard that you are NOT supposed to shave these dogs because it can ruin their coats and it won't grow back normally... Is this true ?? Any comments would be much appreciated THANKS!!

@DeathKnightsCow them as pups with other dogs or they will consider other dogs as food My family didnt deal with it but a friend had her malamute eat a full grown poodle nicest dog but never grew up around other dogs that werent its breed. The malamute will love you to death im mean just love you and always have a smile, they know when your down and when your having a dinner a group meeting or something with alot of people they want to be right in the middle bec they are a pack animal

@saphirejewelscoward I talk about the Malamute bec my family had since i was a freshman in high school. As puppies they chew on every god damn thing but are cute enough to make up for that. But you got to teach not to chew and dont be afraid to be a but ruff with em they can handle, ive seen him run full force in a metal door didt phase him at all. They are hard to train bec of them being stubborn and have a tendency to out smart their owners so be on your toes. You MUST socialize

@OverruledDood yeah but i mean golden used to be a hunting dogs and still is but now people bread them for being housedogs.. the same thing can be done to malamutes and huskies. doesn't matter if they are 80% wolf. wolf dont drag right? which mean malamutes can be bread to retrieve and such too.

@catha86 Golden Retrievers have a knack for adapting to their environment, they were never bread that way.
If you plan on getting a Malamute, make sure it's happy, and give it LOTS of room to run. If that's not possible, Huskies aren't all that different from Malamutes, but they make much better pets.
