The idea is to use the energy for cars, so you gotta find a way of portable energy. We had petrol at the moment. You always lose some energy in the process, both with petrol and hydrogen. All this time we were looking for a way to make petrol engines more efficient. Now we have discovered Hydrogen as a new alternative, and we are trying to make it effective enough, as well.
The advantage of hydrogen is that you always have water to separate, and you can use any energy to do this.

Invest more money into fundamental science and hopefully this problem gets resoved in the next 20-30 years. But the US government is cutting down on the scientific grants every year. Consequently, there is more idiots who belive these videos and less truly knowledgable people.

The energy costs of converting water to hydrogen and oxygen is much higher than the energy released from burning off the hydrogen produced. The only possible solution is be to use a "magic" catalyst which allows converting water to hydrogen at much less energy costs than the normal electrolysis process. But there is currently no such a catalyst known, although chemists make great efforts to discover it.

This is stupid you are fooling naive innocent people. Water is H2O and can be converted to HHO however the energy used to convert it is far greater than the energy released from the flame. Your fuel source is not water its comes from the battery and it would be much more effecient than going through water.
