Sharon Lowen has dedicated her life to presenting and promoting excellence in Indian performing arts. Sharon is hailed today as one of the leading international performing artists of three forms of Indian dance: Odissi, Chhau and Manipuri.

Topic: Transformational Storytelling Through Dance
Description: Indian classical dance evokes the inner truths that we all share through stories brought to life. It celebrates a spiritual consciousness, combining dramatic expression with rhythm and movement. This talk will demonstrate how the dance metaphor in Indian mythology aims to transform understanding of our inner and outer worlds.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

  • she and her expertise at her craft are very beautiful. however, i resent her analysis of the dances of other places in the world. indian dance is not by far the only type for which her descriptions are true. although her descriptions are true for indian dance. it might serve her better to only explain indian dance without comparing and contrasting it against the traditions of others.

  • interesting!

  • Sharon Lowen appeared in the Telugu film Swarnakamalam opposite Kuchipudi dancer-actress P. Bhanupriya...she was SPECTACULAR...

  • Very beautiful and uplifting.
