i test my gyro like : adding power and decend , then fly around and perform NORMAL turns left and right some fig 8 may help too,but just be care full only fly around after you are sure of the setting (no binding no wagging)

to test a gyro holding capability
1. do hard punch up and down without rudder input to check whether the tail stay in the correct direction.
2. reverse figure 8. reverse figure will be more strain on the gyro/servo combo to test it's holding capability.
