Heard lots of complaints about this bass head so I ended up buying. I've read that it has input troubles (not enough gain) but with my bass it works pretty good.
The bass is a Nuvolari 4 strings with Bubinga body, Wengé neck and Bocote fingerboard. FireKeeper humbucker pickup (passive) and 040 Warwick Red Label strings... all of this thru by "Rat Cab" 12". Please notice that the cab didn't have the tweeter in this video!

  • how much watt does a box need connected to the little giant 1000 ? do I really need a 500 W/8 Ohm... ?...

  • Well... I'd recommend a decent 400w cab if you'll get an 8ohm example. I don't think these 500w could kill a decent cab, even if it's small.

But more than watts, you should pay attention to DBs.

  • i wonder if you can get good sound from a DOUBLE BASS.

  • Sorry, I don't play the doublebass :-p

  • @RainbowB0X - I've read about this some months ago... but unfortunately I've sold the head BEFORE finding out :-p

  • @prometeusguitarsit

anyway it's possible to avoid the preamp problem with a simple mod ;)

  • Thank you :-)

I wanted to show the input lights, this is why it's dark :-)

  • i just bought this head... LittleGiant 1000... just needed something cheap for my amp (is that right?)... anyway i have a combo with 10x2" and a normal head... no problem, except it dont get that freaking high :D

i gave the vid 4 stars... nice test... position of camera and light pulled it down

  • Sorry you had troubles... all the Ashdown stuff I've had or tried was nice and well built. The only complain is that the input stage is a bit weak but for the rest it's a good amp... cheap, nice and light.

  • It sounds nice this head, problem is its unreliable and has build quality issues. If you got a good one that's cool, took me three goes to get a good 'un. Biggest mistake Ashdown made is shipping production to China, Should have just shipped the low end stuff out. All to save around £200 bucks retail, what?s the point. Keep making nice guitars dude.
