The Paris Métro system is one of the busiest in the world comprising 16 lines that criss cross central Paris. The overall length of the system is 214 km and carries approx. 4.5 million passengers daily.
The system is accessed through 300 stations.
The busiest lines are Line 1 which connects La Defence (the largest business district in Europe) with Château de Vincennes located to the east of the city center. The line carries over ½ million passengers a day.
Also, any chance you have the Rennes/Liege closing announcement? You know--"Les voyageurs sont informes que la station Rennes/Liege est fermee au public." I'd love to hear that!

A wonderful touchstone of my 1989-90 school year in Paris as well as my many trips back since. Unfortunately, i have not visited since 2003, except for twice in the airport en route to other places. Paris has gotten very expensive. I love the metro, especially crossing the Seine from Bir Hakeim to Passy. Glamorous!

Reminds me of the four years I lived in Paris from 97 to 01. Riding the métro was part of my everyday life, particularly lines 4 + 12 since Marcadet-Poissonniers was the closest station.
