Welcome to the all new Radio Control Show, Im Hope McCall.

Its that time of year again and this week, our editors are headed to Lakeland, Florida for Top Gun 2009. This world-class RC aircraft event is May 6 through the 10th and features awesome models, demos and competitions. A new product that the Model Airplane News editors are really stoked about is the P-51D Mustang from Hangar 9. This aircraft has flat UltraCote covering thats preprinted with scale details like panel lines and rivets. Its priced at $320 and features built-up construction, functional flaps and mechanical, spring-loaded retracts.

Another standout this week is the new 5T Trofeo body from Pro-Line Racing. Get ready to trick out your 5T with this clear, Lexan body that has authentic off-road race details like a roll cage, window mask and a simulated vented hood and fenders. Its pre-cut, comes with three large decal sheets and has marked holes for easy mounting. Very cool!

Speaking of off-roading, this motor sports segment is fast becoming one of the hottest new trends in RC. It has all the high-speed thrills of desert racing, plus fender-crushing, short-course action and everything in between. Vehicles like the Traxxas Slash and the Associated SC10 are flying off hobby shop shelves. You can see firsthand what the excitement is all about when you grab a copy of the new Desert & Off-road special issue from Radio Control Car Action magazine...on sale this June.

And theres even more for you off-road enthusiasts! New from CEN Racing are the four-wheel drive Matrix 5B and SC 5. This 1/5th scale vehicle is perfect for off-roading and is offered as a monster truck or buggy, comes fully assembled and ready to run! It has a fully painted and decaled body shell, FM Digital electronics, massive 8-inch wheels and pre-glued tires.

Also new this week, The Crawler Store just released its Eclipse chassis, which is a direct bolt-on tube frame for your AX10 Scorpion. The patent-pending Hybrid TVP/Tuber design has a CNC-manufactured lower section for proper suspension and a full metal frame.

RCX 2009 is the ultimate RC expo and it just went down April 18 and 19 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Its a good thing its a two-day show, because this event had everything an RC fanatic dreams aboutindoor and outdoor pro racing, nitro and electric boats, large-scale battle tanks, plus rock crawling and side-by-side drift action . . . RCX is truly where its at in RC.

RCX is actually two shows in one and ticket holders also got full access to the Model Airplane News Expo. So for those of you who are into RC planes and helicopters, RCX had tons of exhibitors and all-day airborne demos just for you.
