Lakeland hornpipe steps, assembled by Ian Dunmur

Sheffield Celebrated Clog Dancers take their name from Wetts, a leading Sheffield clog factory (sadly no longer in existence) whose trademark was "Celebrated". The team started in 1976 and has appeared around the Sheffield area and further afield. Members come from in and around Sheffield with a few exceptions.

  • I stand corrected. I didn't know traditional clog dancing WAS done in clogs. I had read that the word in Gaelic means beating time, or tap dancing. I've also read that in American frontier days dancers attached pennies to their shoes so they could tap. They also incorporated African tap dance styles. Interesting how mixed cultures evolve. Thanks for the info. It's great to keep learning..

  • It has a lot to do with English and Welsh clog dancing, as dances in these traditions are done in clogs.

  • Thanks ruthbibby. I no longer have any idea why I asked that question. Clearly it has nothing to do with clog dancing.

  • A factory where clogs are made

  • What is a clog factory?
