After effects fire smoke and heathaze effect

I used a picture that comes with vista for the forest, pyromania volume 2 for the fire, the heathaze and smoke was all done by me using a simple method which i hope to make a tutorial on

Its all done in after effects, the digital smoke, th heathaze, the fire is just a composite from stock footage.

The forest was fake.

for the heathaze effect its a plugin called turbulent displacement (i think). you can create a mask where you want it to be (where the smoke is), and change the settings for a different effect

For the heathaze I used err turbulence or noise or something, masks and a displacement layer,

animated noise, evolving or whatever and moving upwards, pretty simple though...
