Solun or Thessaloniki? What is its true Macedonian name?

The song is ο Σαλονικiós (O Salonikios), by Stratos Dionisiou.

Slavs of FYROM want to teach us about Macedonian history and culture, but they get their information from translations of Greek history at best. One of the evidences of their ignorance is that they call Thessaloniki, which was its true Macedonian name, but Solun. All Slavic countries call it by that name as well, whereas Greeks are the only ones who call it Thessaloniki. The Apostle Paul addresses the people of Thessaloniki as Thessalonians, not as Solunians. Solun is proof of how much they know about Macedonia.

Ancient Macedonians were an ethnic Greek people that had assimilated and integrated with the rest of the Greek tribes two millenia ago. That means one thousand years before your Bulgaro-Serb ancestors drifted down into the Balkans. Ancient macedonians were a pure Greek tribe. By the way the old Macedonian language was Doric Greek.
