nice music. Is it explosions in the sky?

thanks for the video, better with sound off

@somedaythewave yeah I'd go along with dada, it's got that whimsical freeform kind of spirit they were keen on.
-
@MASSIF101 it's dada. or at least that's how my film class defined it as.

thanks for posting the video.

@MASSIF101 This footage is pretty experimental yeah.

@Zeanu well everything is what you make of it, all art is an attitude. and after watching this again I might rethink whether or not there is no environment, the swirling depth of a vortex does create an abstract form of environment. But if we're going to use labels like surrealism, soviet montage or "mainstream" then we need to use them accurately, it's about the methodology behind the film, if filmmakers are actually trying to achieve something then they use a style that enables them to do that

Art from then was way ahead of its time...

@MASSIF101 Surrealism is what you make of it, silly person... it is an attitude.

it's a very interesting film but i wouldn't call it surrealist. surrealist films subvert reality, hence the name - "su-real", this film doesn't present a reality as any human experience would define it, there is no environment, no characters and no plot development, if no relaity is created then you cannot subvert it and so this just isn't a surrealist film.
call it experimental or subversive, but not surrealist
