Here's a demo of some of the sounds of the Ethos Overdrive Amp, a compact 30 watt amp built into the famous Ethos Overdrive pedal. The whole thing weighs around a pound and can drive an 8 or 16 ohm speaker cabinet. I'm playing it into a Port City Wave cabinet.

  • tube or solid state amp?

  • @joepassfan Solid State.

  • sounds great :) where did you get that backing track in the beginning ?

  • @levitheguitarplayer Its on the Boss Loop Station.

  • Sounds awesome ! in general what settings do you use to get that nice jazz tone on your your CC nocaster? I have a standard tele (not as nice) with the CC bridge. Any tips on tone, vol, pickup settings you can give me are appreciated. I run through a Hot Rod Deluxe which is supposed to be the Blues jr's big brother. Obviously won't get this particular tone without an ethos.

  • @ruiner54 Not sure what tone you are talking about but the CC should sound great and Jazzy just straight into your amp.BTW all the Ethos settings are on the screen during each clip.

  • you, sir, are awesome.

  • Nevermind the first question. It's an EV12L, I relistened to the whole clip again. Thanks!

  • Hey Tim, this is such an outstanding demo underpinned by your brilliant playing. Thanks for this. I have 2 questions - 1. Are you using the PortCity Wave or Wave OS cab, and what speakers do you have in there? 2. Why do you have that blue 'blanket' thing over the cab on some of the pieces? Secret settings? ;-) Thanks, mate.

  • @SingleCoilVoodoo Ordered my Ethos TLE in February, originally was told that the pedal would be shipped April 2013(!). Got it in December. Merry Christmas to me!! So it was about 10 months. It was worth the wait. I've been using it at church with my Pod X3 (for speaker sim and FX), and it's great. I love having a channel switching "amp" in my rig!

  • COOL SOUND & PLAYING! Cheers!

  • NICE. I wonder what the lead time is right now for an Ethos ....or Ethos Amp???

  • thanks for the response... another side question... I have been looking at lollar pickups for my tele... I saw your comparison vid of the 52 and special T... but was curious about the Lollar Vintage Ts? Have you tried? Were the 52's better?

  • Tim,

Try out the new Alpha Drive II Std or the USA Custom Shop from Freekish Blues. They are amazing and will hang with the Ethos for way less money. There is a video of Thaddeus Hogarth playing the Alpha vs the Ethos. I could not tell the difference.

The Alpha Drive II Red Dot and Standard are $99 and the USA Custom Shop is $168.
