Eight soldiers recount their story of heroism in Afghanistan. The medical emergency evacuation (MEDEVAC) crew with the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade risked their lives to come to the rescue of German soldiers who were ambushed by as many as 200 Taliban fighters during a patrol in western Afghanistan north of Kunduz, on Good Friday, April 2, 2010. For their actions that day, fourteen soldiers became the first foreigners to receive Germany's Ehrenkreuz der Bundeswehr fur Tapferkeit -- Bundeswehr Cross of Honor for Bravery -- one of the nation's highest awards for valor.
Video by Richard Bumgardner and Jesse Granger.
