The male Indian Koel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Koel) croons a melodious tune everyday, all over Bangalore. It is an elusive bird that loves its privacy. Folklore will have you believe that spotting an Indian Koel brings a lot of good luck. If that is true, this is your lucky day. Don't just listen to the sounds of the Indian Koel, watch it too, as I painstakingly shoot the bird in all its glory with my Canon S5 IS mounted on a Monfroto tripod somewhere in Bangalore.

Realize that the bird was quite far from me. So, I had to shoot it with the Digital Zoom enabled. That should explain the graininess of the video.

  • very nice video and the voice of koel is very good

thanks for sharing this lovely video

  • What a beautiful, truly beautiful recording. It is amazing all the other birds just bow down2 such a heavenly voice...which literally drowns out all the other voices ...for they get possibly intimidated ;) in this Beloved Bird's sweetly magnificient call

  • Mahesh you'd be amazed, even the crow which can sport a baby voice.,just remains quiet & looking at the Koels's mouth looks like an infant... not too old or perhaps all Koel birds have the baby red throat inside. Boy!! is this a Princess bird or what !!

  • You know this bird is such a Beloved. If you see, our Beloved Koel birds are such constant showstoppers. If you listen closely all the birds, the traffic just stands still for this beautiful bird........to sing to it's heart content. I love that you've captured that which I used to adore for all my 17 years or so. Also one will be amazed that this bird will respond to another human who can lovingly imitate the voice, as though this Divine Bird has found it's dear childlike friend in our response
