Du bist der rechte Weg, die Wahrheit und das Leben!
Thou art the righteous way, the true way and true life!

extract 'Du bist der rechte Weg'(Thou art the righteous way) from BWV 229-Komm Jesu, Komm!

My collection of the Thomaner edition of Die Six Motetten;

It's a delicate rendition but I do not consider it my personally favourite recording since I prefer a relatively more opulent and substantial motet style and this execution, especially the soprano and alto sections, happens to sound a bit aerial.

Anyway...what do you vocal connoiseurs make of it?:P

This video has been tagged as having content ID matches. I herewith declare that the legal right of this soundtrack and the CD it is extracted from belongs to Thomanerchor Leipzig and the CD publisher. I am no representative of the choir and I do not intend to 'steal' the copyright.
This video is meant as a presentation of the singing style of the choir and I hope people enjoy it and, if they wish to, compare it to that of other choirs with the same rendition.

  • thanks for uploading - for me thomanerchor is still the number one for singing bach - you can hear, that they sing bach almost every day!

  • truely the choir of Bach himself :D

  • SEDDIUS

thank you so much for this recording..

I have read and understand your comments re the performance I agree with you and understand your points.

Never the less, to hear the TOLZER in any setting sends me into orbit..so 5 stars and a favorite!!! Thanks again.

  • glad you like it:D

speaking of Toelzer...I've heard that their means of carring out counterpart quartets of this sort by using ditto soloists is quite unique...do check out the video I responded to and you'll see:P

I think I like it better cuz it's got a gradational and operatic quality with it:-)

  • It is certainly not unique nowadays..., but not many boys choirs can do this...But the soloist approach is quite popular at the moment...Think of Hilliard Ensemble, Mackay, Cantus Köln (partly)

End even a few other boys choirs could do this:

Augsburger Domsingknaben and the Hannover Knabenchor ., st. Florianersängerknaben and the boys choir of dortmund als have a soloist approach and are able to perform this...

  • O.O thanks for the Info, I'm going to search for these :-)))

  • i watched the choir's live performance in Hong Kong last night. Some other motets were sung.

  • Two voice trainers of the Tölzer were Hannoveraner, one a professor of music, the other a former Knabe. There are a lot of connections between the better German boys' choir.

  • The boys' choir of Dortmund has former voice trainers of the Tölzer :D :D :D.
