The Secret Ballad of Marcus Rummery

Vancouver is a hard town to live in if you're an overeducated slacker and addicted to apocalyptical political theory -- but maybe it only seems hard to me because I'm the one who has to do it. Dilettante is a word often applied to the narrator as I have made efforts of varying degrees in virtually every artistic profession possible -- and the last hurrah of parental education cake was digital film production. I needed to make a biographical short-film - but instead of documenting a filmmaker's life as it is, this is how I wish it was.

The New Age Idiom that whatever you think and feel attracts more of the same has left most people exhausted - carrying new levels of guilt because of the negative thoughts and feelings they can't stop themselves from having. But a film isn't a story about real places and people -- it is real places and people -- a parallel reality or alternative dimension that may re-create itself through the magic of cinematic dream projection into this consensus reality of dollars and doughnuts. Or is it the imagination masturbation of a delusional underemployed narcissist destined for a bone-crushing mid-life crisis? Judge for yourself -- but deep down I know you want everything to work out for me!
