The Missouri State electronic arts program combines talented students from art and design, music, and the media, journalism and film departments. These students collaborate to produce animated pieces, documentaries, commercials, short films and many other creative works.
During the 2010-2011 academic year, 12 students from the electronic arts program won 20 awards at regional and national media competitions recognizing their collaborative efforts.
This included honors for best film, best narrative, best actress, audience favorite and best short narrative script, among many others.
These national awards, along with the interdisciplinary curriculum, help the students develop great portfolios of work as they move into this creative industry.
While many of the award-winning students have graduated, we have representatives from the program on the field to be recognized for this outstanding program.
We have: Mark Biggs, head of the media, journalism and film department, Rebecca Xu (SHOE), associate professor of art and design, and current students representing the electronic arts program.
On the field to congratulate them are Interim President Clif Smart and Interim Provost Frank Einhellig.
Ladies and gentlemen, please acknowledge the accomplishments of the Electronic Arts program, its students and the faculty. They are in The BancorpSouth Academic Spotlight.
