about 75 MPH is all it took. Brake burned out, Partial braking or something created out of balance and general havoc. Then- whoomp!

  • i have never heard of anybody getting any power out of air 403s or air x.alot of people have told me they also have had brake problems.

  • yeah, that is how it is for a lot of folks. It takes strong winds to get real power, but I have pegged my 50 Amp meter a few times and see (or used to) 10-30 amps pretty regularly, but that is over 20 knots. under 15 and it is a meager harvest no matter how the graph looks. I have good wind here, which use to extend my power tool working time (or whatever) into the night a fair number of days of the year. I promise to bring it to the top of the list and get it fixed one of these days. :) .

  • Wow.. Sorry about that wind generator! It feels like a Florida Hurricane wind here. I'm glad you did not get stabbed. They probably would have arrested ME! HaHa????

  • Ha- Thats funny AM. No big loss. It only Gave around 5% or less of my charging The PV does all the work. I actually lost two blades. I will get it down and fix it if possible. The thing was sounding a little "OFF" lately and the brake wasn't working for some reason. When I had the switch off, It ran like it had a load, reving up, but not free spinning, but giving no amps to the batteries. ??? Maybe switch failure. Yeah these are SOME gusts were having today!!! Hope your machines hold together.

  • Judging from the dirt color, wind, and pines, I am guessing this is NE Arizona. I have plans for 4-8 solar panels in NE AZ, and will use 6 hornet wind turbines, to live off grid, with propane, wood heat stove, and a back-up generator. I like the hornet ones because they are stronger, and smaller, and don't need to put up so high. To adjust for elevation, 6,000ft, I will be getting the 6 bladed ones instead of the 3 blade, and also lightly sanding the blades for more wind drag. Nice video!

  • good video m8

  • get a hornet

  • Good gawd!

Glad you were not in the way of those blades!

If this was a side furl instead of mag. break you might still have those blades intact. Those 403's sound like a dying cow in those winds, you can probably sleep now :-)

  • Ouch! Makes me wonder how good carbon fiber blades are.

Yet, I would hate to see a metal blade break loose.

    Good luck getting everything fixed!
