One of the best demos. C64 rulez!
Expanding capabilities of hardware is nothing when coders can't use it in 100% min.
C64's coders did more than 200%.

More like Commodore "Sexy-Four." When you have 30 years to play with a piece of technology with the right minds behind it, it's amazing what can still be created with it. There are so many nuances to it's design and capabilities that can't be captured anywhere else. Viva la C64!

Impressive stuff! The C64 is one wicked computer. Hard to believe it's an almost 30 years old machine!

Masterpiece

Yeah I agree. No wonder some of those melodies were so familiar :).

f**king amazing
I grew up in the ninties and the c64 was some mystry computer that was only used by friends who's older brothers/sisters had one.
When ever I saw pic of a c64 in action is was rather crude, I had no idea something like this could be done.

Thats so god damn awesome!
Was this recorded on a 6581 R2 or R3? Just wondering.

Since most of the chips of these revision are unmarked we have to guide ourselves by the dates. I'm guessing this is a R3 chip.

Nobody ever posted the extended-run area of this disk program. Glad you did though. But I'd like to point out your SID sounds different than the other SIDs I've heard running this program.

From my personal experience, every SID chip sounds different. 6581 and 8580 however are worlds apart in this demo: try listening to the Mermaid gallery theme if you can (Dunes K Remix by Jeff aka Soren Lund) in both chips.

Are you using a C64 with a 6581 or an 8580?
EclipseWebJS 5 years ago
It depends - I own eight C64's and one C128. Apart from that I also have a Hardsid Quattro board with four SID's - three 6581 and one 8580. I believe this demo sounds better in a 6581.
