  • Just to be sure - are to useing hammers from nowhere for every note ?

  • @merseyguy1974 No, but every string crossing is hammered, not picked. You could certainly try it with all hammers, but it would be extremely challenging to keep dynamics consistent. :)

  • @FreepowerUG Ok. Truthfully, I'm actually finding it a little easier to play using all hammers. My brain kind of finds it easier to seperate each individual note / movement in that sense and I also find that I tend to produce more dynamic differences and get timing issues when I use pulloffs. - Although, that may just be a flaw in my technique that needs rectifying. - Any opinions ?

  • @merseyguy1974 Some people find the all hammers style pretty natural. If you're happy with the sounds you're getting that's great, as long as you can figure out a way to get a consistent volume between fingers 3 and 4 - Garsed will generally pick instead of hammering 43.

The guitar is a 007 Elite, they don't make them any more, but it's a fantastic guitar. Not a wafer thin shred machine, but a bit of a beast all round. :D

  • ahhahaha i was going to mention that it sounded like shawn lane xD

  • @Scowmoo And picking chops, thousands of album sales and best selling instructional videos. :P

  • @FreepowerUG All you're missing is the mutant pinky.

  • @Scowmoo It's been said before. I'm desperately trying to channel his teaching style, maybe I've succeeded from the neck up? :P

  • This excercises are amazing.

    Thank you!

Btw, your face reminds me of Paul Gilbert for some reason.

  • @MrUsedBooks Either will have different demands - if you practice clean, consistent volume will be very tough. If you practice with gain, keeping it clean as you cross strings will be hard. I do it with high gain because I'll never play these licks with a clean tone but you might. :)
