Vertical mile stair climbing report. We killed it. This won't be interesting to anyone that doesn't know the 1 mile stair climbing challenge we're talking about. Basically I made this video for Alfred so he can get the low down on what happened.

I've done triathlons in the past, long bike races... but walking up steps as an endurance challenge? It never occurred to me before. Now that I'm close to this 280 meter stair climb it occurs to me.

It's unbelievable that I did it. I thought maybe in a year I'd be ready. Glad I tried sooner. Now I can go for 2 miles vertical... 12 times up and down the stairs in 8 hours. Will need to lose a good bit of weight first - but, I think it's possible to make it 2 miles.

You know anyone that climbed 2 miles of elevation on steps?

Me neither. I'm trying to find someone online - I'm sure there are some stair climbing fanatics that have done it. I'm not talking stairmaster either.

This mile high vertical challenge is different than climbing steps in a tower.

1. There is no air conditioning.
2. The steps are all variable heights - so going up, and coming down - are very difficult than climbing the standard 6-8 inch step.
3. The humidity and heat of Thailand's south takes a lot out of you. Lots of liquids are necessary, so, carrying it with you is also necessary.
4. If you start before 3pm the sun is directly on you and it raises the temperature another 10 or more degrees.
5. Sun sets at 6:30pm so if you plan on doing it at night - you need to carry a flashlight, and it's treacherous at night especially when you're TIRED after 3-4 times up the mountain.

If you want to try this 1 Mile Vertical Stair Climb, see the website and the pages about it at: http://www.GoUpIt.com. Cheers!

  • Wow.... that is amazing.. good way to prevent yourself from heart disease, but I agree.. I would feel really really tired out too... lol.. I think I would get myself a water and a good meal... and then call it a night on the bed, just knock the heck out on the bed! LOL.. anyways that is great to hear... keep up the good work too!

  • @GregRetrorian that's about what I did... I ate like a fiend and then hit the bed at 8pm. Slept straight through to 6:30 when baby woke up. Today - 2 days later - feel good, had to stop myself from doing anything physical today. Another day of rest is in order.

  • @thaipulse dotcom Dennis Leary said it best in his song "I'm An A Hole".The good thing is I am the likeable kind.Sure I will put oil based whipped cream on your windshield but I will be there when you need help moving or visit you in the hospital.Plus I can truly say I have no true enemies and I have more friends than most people have in one life.

  • @Kehmet14 I guess for you - it's all about making as many friends out of strangers as possible, eh?

  • @thaipulsedotcom Could be worse. When I was in Thailand some tourists must have thought I was THEIR personal translator. The "Gin khee mai" joke never got old.Just telling them that was the answer to everything.Big smile, pat on the back and send them on THEIR way, never knowing.I also never saw them again either.

  • @thaipulsedotcom sounds good! I do not know if I could even accomplish that.. so I give you LOTS of credit!

  • Congrats to you and Alfred. I would like to do this someday.

    Peace Always :o)

  • @NWforager i'll search for them. I found an article on it at a website. It's almost a mile vertically. They called it steep for a hiking trail...

  • @thaipulsedotcom i guess ebay doesnt ship there? there r some cool vids on Mailbox on youtube.
