Paw Paw Michigan Tornado

An isolated thunderstorm dropped 4 separate tornadoes on southwest Michigan as it tracked from Benton Harbor to Eaton Rapids Saturday afternoon (9/13/08).

The first tornado touchdown on the southwest side of Paw Paw ant about 4:25 pm and traveled about 2.25 miles before lifting off the ground.

The tornado struck a restaurant and then
partially tore the roof of a car dealership as it passed just south of downtown. Numerous trees were also snapped or uprooted aling the path of the storm.
The tornado has been rated an EF-1 with winds estimated around 90 mph.

The storm continued to produce a funnel cloud as it moved east along Red Arrow Hiway towards Kalamazoo. The funnel cloud briefly toucheddown twice resulting in the second and third tornado. Both touchdowns knocked down trees and branches and were rated EF-0 with maximum winds of 70 mph.
