Giant 10 Ib spiny lobster caught off San Diego coast

My friend Brad is a pro lobster diver here in San Diego. He dives off the Ocean Beach coast with a night light and a bag, roots around under the rocks, and comes up with the maxiumum 7 lobsters per night just about every time he goes out. There is a lobster season so they have time to regenerate.

By the looks of the one he caught last Friday, it might be time to open the season up a bit more. This is a pacific spiny lobster, probably 10 pounds and between 20-40 years old. Amazing that he gave himself up but, damn, was he tasty...

@jerry0o8 no, he's not talking about some movie; it's actually a serious problem with big CA Spiny Lobster. When a lobster feels the soft, wet, skin of a humans face it becomes sexually aroused and begins the mating process regardless of what the fuck it's consummating on. So occasionally, ignorant fisherman who put CA Spiny Lobsters on their face will have to go get their stomachs pumped so the eggs don't hatch. Ask any ER nurse and they'll tell you the same thing.

He must have been pretty tough. I like the ones that are just above legal limit, especially the females. And for the ones that are crying, the males are not as important as the females. They are important, but think about which ones carry the eggs, duhhhh.

Also, there are stiff regulations in place so that this fishery continues. There is a strict limit. They are the bugs of the sea for chrissssakes!
