you can put anything you want for your network key (wep) or you do not have to have one at all (open).

OK..now it stopped working. when I open firefox, I keep getting "The PROXY SERVER IS REFUSING CONNECTIONS.

fIREFOX IS CONFIGURED TO USE A PROXY SERVER THAT IS REFUSING CONNECTIONS

i would be sure that you did the entire about:config process. let me know if you did and this is still a problem, because i recall encountering a problem like this when i first worked on this tethering method.

Finally got it to work!!

I just have to wait a bit after i make the network on my windows xp, and go back an forth to the new network (that is seen on my iphone 3g, which I made on my windows XP), and between selecting that network and going back to general setting until the iphone 3g is connected to that network made by the xp and I can seethe ip address too... then after I do everything he said, I just have to wait a bit, surf oniphone first, and then surf on my windows xp (it take a bit)
