In my opinion it is all about how influencing each other has no effect on a human beings character.
First part: The girl is dominating the guy, who tries to impress her. There is no conflict between them, because he got no own opinions.
Second part: He suppresses her. She becomes so desperite, that killing him seems to be the only way to free her personality.
Third: He is nice to her, but he can't change her. The situation escalates, because he can't handle her acting against his own opinion.
