  • Very cool video. I think the only thing I would have done different is to not pet the bird, as your scent may get on it and the mother would ignore it. Of course, who knows if I'd be able to control myself. There were Purple Gallinules at my old job that would climb all over me!

  • Thanks..... It is a myth that mother birds will abandon there young due to human scent ,birds really have a bad sence of smell.....

  • I want a blue jay so bad

  • I love blue jays! Thanks for sharing!

  • That's so awesome. Great experience.

  • cute; I wish I were you

  • The bird must think you're Saint Francis of Assisi haha

(Legend has it that wild animals had no fear of Saint Francis of Assisi and even came to him seeking refuge from harm.)

  • @User100606 Bluejays stay around my place all year. also, many parrots are migratory yet are kept as pets. there should be an amendment saying that it is illegal to just go catch a wild bird, but if there is one in obvious injury or danger, it can be taken in.

  • How did this turn out? Did he eventually stay in the tree?

  • This bird has probably had close contact with another human before you. Also note that the parents are not around becasue if they were they would be attacking you. So most likely this baby was fed by humans for a time and then released. Looks like he's old enough to be fed sunflower seeds.

  • this is so cool!!!! very peace that the bird did not get scared nor fly away but i will want to know what happens and maybe when it gets old enough it may probly just fly away on its own.

  • Absolutely loved your video! How delightful! I have lots of bluejays that come to my yard to eat peanuts that I put out. But I NEVER EVER have had a single one that would even stay still if I come near them! AMAZING! What a fantastic experience that must have been! The bird must have recognized a kind soul in you! What ever happened to that particular blue jay? That's just the sweetest thing!
