Excerpts were taken from Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space. More specifically, from the chapter titled The Gift of Apollo. I edited together the audio from the audio-book, and added the video from:

- BBC's Space Race
- BBC's Walking with Cavemen
- Carl Sagan's Cosmos
- Discovery's Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking
- History's Failure is not an Option
- Home
- In the Shadow of the Moon
- Quest for Fire (Film)
- The Universe

The music is derived from two songs on the Lost soundtrack: Landing Party and Nadia on Your Life.

  • AWESOME! You really got the volume right this time, the music doesn't overpower Carl's voice. Excellent balance!

  • @JackeShanTwo Thank you! I had been meaning to upload a version with modified audio levels for a long time, and the anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing gave me some motivation to do it. This is one of my favourites of the series, so I was sad to see that my error with the audio mixing affected how it was received.

  • The leap from a pair of haphazard brothers in a field to the moon was as if nothing, when standing next to the span of man's dawn until his first strides into the 20th century. And yet, in that one small step for man, more was covered in the age of his knowing than all of his days before. And before him the horizon of his potential; a future that, at once, would be so beautiful, and yet so terrifying.

To those who came before, and those still to follow; "thank you"!

  • My Favourite, thanks Callum.

  • "It's time to hit the road again."

I'll devote whatever I can offer to see that this happens. Mars is waiting.

  • outstanding!

  • It took me little a while to figure out why it sounded so familiar.

  • Your videos make me cry for the human race, cry for what could be. It makes me sad. People are so selfish and ignorant. I hope that I will live to see the world move past the scourge of religion and conservatism. I hope that people someday can get past all of that and embrace reason and logic. When we grow up past the handicap of religion, only then will we know peace and be able to grow into space and continue for what could be forever in some form, robotic or biological, the human race.

  • maybe if Carl Sagan was still around, he would inspire us to continue our journey to the stars.

I'm often discouraged by what I see NASA, ESA, JAXA, RKA focusing on.

It seems to be low or near Earth exploration.

We need something much grander than Apollo. Its high time for our species to head to Mars, create a colony and explore the rest of the solar system.

Our future lies among the stars.

Carl showed us the way, let us follow our destiny in earnest.

  • @callumCGLP Its my favorite too.
