But what could you do if you forgot to pack this useful tool in your survival kit? Easy! Float a needle on top of a standing pool of water. Well, there's a bit more to creating a compass out of a needle and some water, but you can do it right at home with just a few tools.

  • Oh and of your stranded who has a needle or a magnet with them?? How would you know if you were going to get trapped and you didnt bring it! I think it's easier to just use my phone... Or a real compass but I don't bring compasses everywhere so id just use my phone.

  • @TheDogGidget What experiments would you like to see us do? We are always open to suggestions and ideas for what all of you would like to see. Thank you for watching and keep in mind these experiments are more for teaching different scientific properties, than survival tips.

  • Isn't it easier to just use a compass then to carry around a bowl of water???? I don't see when we would need to know this.. Yeah it's cool I guess if you don't know anything about science!

  • i got an even more genius way. Use the sun and some sticks in the ground.

  • It's the magnet

  • @cmak5 XD

  • @cmak5 what if it's cloudy??

  • we had to do this in my survival training camp!!!

  • @cmak5 or you could you use the sun... it rises in the east and sets in the west in the morning put the sun at your right and you will be facing north. in the evening put the sun at your left and and you will be facing north as well

  • It's attracted to the earths magnetic field
