  • Beautiful aircraft, delivered to QANTAS in 1954, fully restored by Historical Aircraft Restoration Society using 16000 volunteer manhours.

    Great video. Thank you.

  • wow what a beautiful bird

  • My dad used to fly these for TWA. Beautiful birds!

  • @andgate2000 That was basically what I've been told - but it was restored in Arizona and then flown down to Australia.

  • @klausb48 Actually this one was never a qantas plane...it belonged to the US air force serial no 54-0157 and was found in Tuscon in 1990.... flown to oz in 1996 and restored.

  • @7772go Correction. VH-EAG s/n L-1049C-55-81 was accepted by QANTAS on 28 March 1954 and flew continuously until March 1960 when it was leased to Malayan Airways. The aircraft above,S/N 54-0157 which was re-registered as VH-EAG, was originally a USAF aircraft attached to 1608th Military Air Transport Wing based at Charleston, South Carolina. It never went near South America (unless the CIA took it there).

  • @klausb48 Actually it wasn't ever delivered to Qantas. It originally flew in South America.,

  • @klausb48 one of the most beautiful sounds of aircraft in history

  • one of the most beautiful sounds of aircraft in history!
