North Carolina Tar Heels at #3 Oklahoma Sooners - 2001 - Football

The defending national champions would enter the 2001 season with new faces at key positions. Nate Hybl would replace legend Josh Heupel at quarterback and freshman Tommie Harris would start on the defensive line at tackle. The Sooners would quickly punch North Carolina in the mouth with a 41-14 lead at halftime. The Tar Heels would rally to cut it to 41-27 for the final. Bob Stoops Sooners would extend their winning streak to 14.

Carolina had a brutal opening to the schedule that season. If i'm not mistaken, they played Texas at Austin that year too.

We turned the ball over a lot but discovered Darian Durant in this game. This was a brutal stretch to open that season and I love the name "Hispanic College Fund Classic"
