I agree on this, the show is definitely enjoyable the way it is.
And concerning the gay characters, two things have to be noted here:
1. It was about time Star Trek of all franchises picked up that issue. After all, the Federation is oh-so-openminded and stuff, so things like different sexual orientations shouldn't be any big deal, now should they? ;)

Holy s**t people, that's AWESOME!

I love reading the transparent homophobia on the comments section "I'm not a homophobe or anything... I just don't want it RAMMED down my throat..." The fact is - There are 5 series of Trek to enjoy if you want to see a unrealistic representation of the future, Odyssey are showing you gay characters, because gay people exist. WE'VE been seeing traditional male & woman relationships for years, which WE DON'T RELATE to, but we've looked past it and enjoyed the story... It's time you did the same.

@JTREK Homophobic twat. Think how many HOURS of Trek have been dedicated to a man and woman showing affection, exploring relationships, kissing, courting, dating, marrying, argueing, etc - A gay relationship has NEVER legitimately been represented in any of the 5 series! I'm glad Odyssey have represented REAL LIFE, and I'm sorry you and "your gay friend" are uncomfortable by that...

On the matter of the gay characters, its like your ramming it down our throats, the fact that they are gay does not affect the over all plot or story line. Basically, 'I' am being told, " a bunch of gays who like Star Trek made a video, thousands of fans try to tell you, we dont need the "flaming", and you tell us we do. Meet us half way, make a video that does not involve the topic, see what happens. I like the Odyssey series, but I can not show it to my kid, as my dad did to me with Star Trek

so... home, don't give up on me... it's just another Voyager...??

@HiddenFrontier youre obviously gay.
-
@HiddenFrontier But I do

Why is the science officer in command? If something happened to the captain then he should have taken on the matel and also the red shirt.
I admire you for using some openly gay characters, but I do believe that some times the gayness goes a little overboard. Even my gay friend agrees. Openly gay is okay, but too far is too far.

Since we have about 50 or so hours of produced episodes covering many, many characters and events we think it is not overboard.

Yes but some of your audience does.

That may be true but many many others don't.

Looks even better, now if you could only get rid of the homo stuff.

Corey Aster and Ro Nevin are both gay characters and the stories will reflect that as neccessary.
