  • bill rocking the assassins creed look

  • I was there last year and it was great. Sadly it was really windy and it was too cold for me to stick around as long as I would have liked.

  • pagans built it !!!

  • This is wonderful! :)

  • aw i love bill

  • @annikee59 The road is prehistoric. It's always been there. Its the main arterial road to the West Country and a perfect advertisement for the henge. As a local and regular visitor I can say that most times I hardly hear the road & certainly doesn't affect the stones any. If you want an example of how destructive roads have been, there's Avebury Stone Circle where the road goes right through the henge! Ever noticed how many railways are next to medieval castles. Blame those victorians.

  • @sweetjemimer It's a shame therefore you miss the point. Tourists, like them or loath them, is the life blood of this nation now. They come here and boost our economy. 80 percent of the visitors to places like SH are foreign tourists, not British people. If we didn't have the tourists, yes, it would be more peaceful but we also wouldn't have half the money to be able to preserve places like this for the future. Not having a go, just stating that times have changed.

  • It was only started by ants. It was finished by badgers over a thousand years later when the Eloi consultancy group in charge of the project realised the ants were just going to leave it half done. They had also used the bathroom fittings on another job and flogged all the stone that was supposed to be for the walls to a chap from Gaul that they'd met down the pub.

  • as someone who lives just ten minutes from Stonehenge, my biggest issue is all the tourists, cant walk round my own town! Old Sarum is close too which is amazing to visit and much less tourists!
