  • is that milo minderbinder in the tree with yossarian?

  • The naked man in the tree actually is Alan Wolf Arkin - an actor. The other man is Jon Voight - an actor too.

  • @BeeReM

    Do you like René Magritte?

  • @XYZandTime No, I don't think I'd ever heard that name... ;)

  • It's an amazingly well-crafted film. The set-ups are audacious, the cinematography is immaculate (mostly shot between 2-3pm only) and the editing was planned ahead of time, like "The Graduate" and is very impressive. But it isn't the book - no film film could capture the book - but as a piece of grandiose Hollywood filmmaking with intelligence and style, it's a great piece of work, I feel.

  • best book ive ever read...such sarcasm!!!

  • i'm awake now.

    danby=establishment military/industrial complex crony

    major-major= laundry officer turned fascist corporate stooge

    father/father=moral leader

    yosarian=fed up with the system kook

    makes perfect sense, now. ha

  • the characters in the film just dont seem as "un-hindged" as those in the book

  • @GordonMorrice you nailed it

  • as for the films, there's always been the m.a.s.h. vs. catch-22 debate. for me, i've always found mash raucous and c-22 intellectually humorous. i'll take intellectually humorous, anyday

  • @fenderkid6 Yes, Jon Voight plays Milo

  • I have never countenanced films that mock the absurdities of government. If this type movie ever becomes popular, we might evolve into responsible individuals. Then who would pay for our Social Security?
