Lucy said in an interview that the first time she felt like she had a choice in something was when she sang with Richard Marx. He was the first person to make her feel like an equal. And with someone like Lucy who has an amazing stage presence and is extremely entertaining, having such a strict script basically hurt her stage presence. If you watch her performe at her own concert or during a convention you see how amazing she really is. You didn't get to see that on Duets.

The judges should have watched her performance of 'The Love of Your Love' from Xena. Then they wouldn't have said a single negative thing about her. The one thing that always bugged me about this show too was that the celebritys never got to choose what key they sang the songs in. Everything revolved around the guest artists and what they wanted to do and how they wanted to do it. So if the key they wanted it sung in wasn't the right key for you then your out of luck.

Wow, I just stumbled across this stuff. You know how youtube is, you look one thing up and a half hour later you're watching stuff that has nothing to do with what you were looking for. Anyway, I never even knew of this show but I wish I did. Great singing Lucy. I'd never before heard that comment Marie made about what her mother used to say. But I really liked it.
