My eyebrows furrowed together, "Howww?? When did I give you keys??? .....You hacker!!" He didn't say anything. He just stood there and stared at me. His face showing almost no expression, "How did your date go." He said, blankly, without even using a questioning tone. My nerves started kicking in.
WHAT??
Is that what this is about???
I pushed him out of my way and walked in aggressively. I dropped my bag on the floor, and Joe closed the door. I wanted to ignore him. I didn't need his attitude problems right now. I threw myself on the couch and turned on the TV. Loud. On purpose. I was already mad enough, with Sterling and everything. And now Joe?! He came and sat on the same couch, right next to me. A grin crept on his face, and he smirked, "He ditched you, didn't he? Haaaa.. Dems, I told you. You could've been with me, and you could've ditched HIM."
By then I'm pretty sure steam was coming out of my ears or something. I turned my head to look at him. I locked my fearsome eyes on his, and I said, "Why don't you LEAVE. ME. ALONE! You think I WANTED to spend my day with you??... And he didn't JUST ditch me, he CHEATED on me!!"
Surprisingly, the smirk on his face wiped off. Quick. He started to frown, "Okay, hold on now! Don't you go getting mad at me because your dumbass boyfriend screwed himself up!!" He was yelling now, and his face was close to mine. I could feel his breath. I kind of gazed at him, my face still looking mad. But inside my nerves were calming. Joe started again, "Just because he's an idiot, it's automatically MY fault??!? ...When did THIS become a rule???" He was waving his arm in the air, showing his anger. But it didn't all seem like anger. A lot of it seemed like worry.
I smiled softly, and reached to him, cradling my arms around his neck. I pulled him in tightly. He just kind of froze for a minute. But then he started to put his arms around my waist, and he rubbed my back soothingly. He said softly, "Demi, I'm sorry... I was being a jerk, I know. But I just want you to be happy. I can't stand it when you're hurting, you know that right??" I smiled big, not letting go, "Oh, Joe... You're the best." He pulled away a little, so he could see my face, "So we're good?" I laughed and punched his chest, "Yeah, you idiot!"
I rest my head back on the couch. Joe said, putting his arm around me, "So when exactly are you gonna tell me what happened last night??" I turned and hit him again, smiling, "I guess now's a good time!" And with that I told him what he did. And all he did was smirk. And laugh. And smirk again. I couldn't help but notice how especially attractive he looked.
