Tough Love: A Jonas Brothers Story [[Chpt 13]]

Chapter 13

Kevin walked up the front porch steps up to the Reynolds gigantic mansion and rang the doorbell. All of the sudden Kevin found the door opened by Mrs. Reynolds.

"Kevin! Hello dear, how are you?" Mrs. Reynolds absolutely adored Kevin

"Very well Mrs. Reynolds and yourself?"

"Oh great thank you, but please call me Sarah, for the last time.Come in honey"

Kevin walked into the kitchen and waited for Danielle. Nick and Renee came bounding in and raced to the fridge, knocking each other over in the process.

"Oh hey Kev" Renee shouted, shoving Nick into the counter, opening the fridge, and grabbing a Diet Coke.

"Hey guys" Kevin said smiling and laughing to himself.

"Im coming down" Danielle called from upstairs.

"Finally" Nick and Renee muttered at the same time before launching into an impression of who Kevin assumed to be Danielle.

"Does this look ok? Is it sexy enough? Is it too sexy? Will Kevin like it? Does it make me look fat? Is it the wrong color?" Renee chirped at Nick.

Nick rolled his eyes and huffed "For the millionth time its FINE!"

"I heard that you twits" Danielle stated, approaching the kitchen. Kevin could hear her heels against the marble floor. "Dont you have Hannah Montana to watch or something?"

Nick stuck his tongue out at her as she walked into the kitchen. Renee and Nick scampered away and Kevins jaw dropped. She looked amazing. http://www.polyvore.com/danielles_date/set?id=4150484 He found it hard to believe that this girl was actually his. She was perfect.

"Danielle you look beautiful" he stated, finally finding his voice.

"You dont look half bad yourself" she took in his black skinny jeans and button down white shirt. Danielle walked over to Kevin and grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers

"Bye mom" Danielle called as the two of them walked out the door, and down to Kevins Jeep.

***Meanwhile***
Renee and Nick were busy fooling around and playing Guitar Hero when Renees LG Venus began to ring. Renee recognized the ringtone immediately: James. She hesitated before going to the phone and picking it up.

"Hello?" She said slowly

"Hey babe! What are you doing?"

"Umm nothing, just hanging out at my house"

"Oh well, do you want to go do something? Dinner and a movie?"
Renee gulped inwardly. He was so sweet, she really didnt want to break his heart. But then she look over at Nick, and her heart started beating wildly and she smiled. She knew Nick was the one she wanted.

"James, Im really tired so I probably wouldnt be any fun tonight. But can you meet me at the park by my house? I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Uh sure." He sounded apprehensive I'll meet you in 15."

"Sounds great, see you" Renee hung up the phone and turned to Nick. "Im going to run out and meet James really quickly. I have to tell him about us." Nick nodded his head, not saying anything.

"Nick?" No answer. "Nick? What is it?" Renee asked gently.

"I dont know Nick shook his head I guess I just feel bad for taking you away from him. I mean, he is my friend"

Renee walked over to Nick and sat on his lap. "Nick, you cant worry about that. I want to be with you, and I think you want to be with me--. "

"Of course I do!" Nick interrupted.

"Then let it be. James will be fine. There are tons of girls at our school who would love to go out with him."

"Okay" Nick nodded and Renee slid off his lap.

"I'll be right back ok" Renee kissed Nick on the lips softly before walking upstairs grabbing her coat

"Renee?" she was stopped by her fathers booming voice

"Oh hi daddy" She turned around and gave him a hug

"Where are you going?"

"To the park to talk to James" she said hesitantly, not knowing how much her mom had told him about the Nick-James situation.

"Isn't Nick here?" He obviously knew something about it.

"Ya but hes going to wait for me. It will only take a few minutes"
Her father gave her a look that told her he knew exactly what she was going to talk to James about.

"So I guess I better go keep him company then eh? Her father grinned Challenge him to Guitar Hero perhaps?"
Renee started laughing. Even though her father was a high-powered lawyer who represented celebrities; he still loved to goof around and have fun. And he loved playing Guitar Hero with his daughters. He was actually really good.

"Im sure he would love that dad Renee gave her father a kiss on the cheek and watched him disappear downstairs yelling challenges and threats at Nick, who she could hear laughing. She smiled to herself and walked out the door, sighing. Time for the hard part.
