Are you playing in a dropped tuning? Because it looks like you're playing powerchords with one finger at the start and at some other parts of the song too.

Nah, it's in standard tuning. Those are 'inverted powerchords' in that starting riff (ie. The root note of the chord is lower than the lowest note on the guitar, so you play the 5th and octave together and mute the shit out of them). They are used all the time in metal songs.
