the thing is, hebrewschoolgrad, this doesn't do anything but take suicide and suicidal feelings very seriously indeed. This is how it feels, believe me. It's all in the punch-line, the real punch in the stomach that is the last line. "Clearly he didn't."

What is brilliant about this is that it weaves so many delicate strands of thought and emotion together. The man, although wanting to end his life, still gives himself a chance to live again through his method of suicide. However, even in this sad, bizarre situation, people help him back up the stairs to the floor, just the slightest addition of dark humour. Then finally, the concluding line "Clearly he didn't" portrays the man's ultimate sadness in life. This should be watched by all.

I've only started watching this show yesterday and I'm finding myself going from sketch to sketch, holding my breath in case it is really disturbing! they seem to manage being surreal, bizarre, profound, uncomfortable without being pretentious. one of my favourite stand-up comedians is frankie boyle, but when I compare his sketch show "tramadol nights" to this, it makes "tramadol nights" look really, really shit. It's a fucking massive bulb.

Speaking of suicide you know that Mr Morris released his 'Four Lions' film last year, right? It's a comedy about 'home grown' UK suicide bombers, a subject matter not usually associated with laughter. Trust Mr Morris. A comedy. About suicide bombers! Whaaaaat??!! If you haven't seen it i'd definitely recommend you go check it out. It has some genuinely laugh out loud moments :-)

  • Diamond Song

This is from a TV show called Jam, which often made very dark/disturbing/surreal sketches, made by a brilliant man named Chris Morris, who believes that no subject should be too taboo for comedy. That maybe if you look at "taboo" topics such as suicide, child abuse, incest, lizards, rape, from a comedic perspective, you may just find out something new about the topic. This show is, to be quite frank, the most darkly beautiful thing I've ever seen on television. Watch more Jam before you judge.
