Jim Zamzow shows you how to make his secret magic compost tea. You will need a 5 gallon paint strainer, 5 gallon bucket, one shovel full of grandma z's ultra high quality compost, a couple of big handfuls of alfalfa pellets, hay or meal, one pint of Zamzows Thrive Organic Fertilizer, one cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Then fill the bucket with water. Let it sit in the sun for three days agitating once or twice a day. Then spoon feed your plants.

It is true that hydrogen peroxide will kill bacteria and fungus it must be use at full strength right out of the bottle. Most hydrogen peroxide is a 3% solution, when adding it to the compost tea formula we are mixing it with water. The rate we mix is one prt hydrogen peroxide to 80 prts H2O for the compost tea. Once the hydrogen peroxide is diluted the benefit of killing bacteria & fungus is lost as it is not strong enough. The benefit of it adding Oxygen 2 keep the tea from going anaerobic.

  • jim, you added city water which has chlorine in it, wouldnt that kill the bacteria in the compost? wouldnt it be better to use rain water or water that has been sitting for a few hours or so?.. just wondering......

  • will hydrogen peroxide 3% right out of the bottle kill my plants...need to control mold on top of soil...light powdery looks fluffy...i was told hydrogen peroxide will kill it just pour it right on the plant....3% right out of the bottle....is this right?

  • Hi, What was the brand of liquid fertilizer you used for your compost tea??? Thanks!!!

  • Hydrogen peroxide is a disinfectant. How can you have an active tea if your bacteria and fungi are dead?

  • The hydrogen peroxide is not required, use an air bubbler instead to add oxygen to the mixture.

  • did i allready email you and your nolonger doing the news letter?

  • Something I found works well is to ferment lawn clippings.

    How?

Cut your grass with a catcher and dump it into a black plastic garbage bag. Leave it sit for about 6 weeks out in the open (hopefully with rain) and the mass should shrink down to about a fifth of the size. The maggots, flies, and smell might put people off doing it, but its excellent natural fertilizer and potent.
